Morning Has Broken

November 7, 2021 by Doug Rudnik Leave a Comment

Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing
Praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight
Mine is the morning
Born of the one light Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise ev’ry morning
God’s recreation of the new day

Lyrics by Eleanor Farjeon

I am Ready

January 5, 2020 by Doug Rudnik Leave a Comment

“I have been finding treasures in places I did not want to search. I have been hearing wisdom from tongues I did not want to listen. I have been finding beauty where I did not want to look. And I have learned so much from journeys I did not want to take. Forgive me, O Gracious One; for I have been closing my ears and eyes for too long. I have learned that miracles are only called miracles because they are often witnessed by only those who can can see through all of life’s illusions. I am ready to see what really exists on other side, what exists behind the blinds, and taste all the ugly fruit instead of all that looks right, plump and ripe.”

Ending, Beginning

December 28, 2019 by Doug Rudnik Leave a Comment

As the sun sets on this year and decade, we are deeply grateful for our blessings. We pause to remember those that served us, those that left us, and those that touched our hearts in profound ways. We use this ending to forgive others, and ourselves, in the hope of new beginnings as we celebrate the wonderful synergy of working together.

Grace and peace be on us all in the new year!

Mirror Lake

This is a long exposure photo taken just before first light. My eyes only saw blackness. My camera saw what was really there. If only we could learn this lesson in real life. Our first impressions are not always right – the way we see things, the way we are used to interpreting situations. The truth is always there, we just have to be willing to shed a new light on it. And how revealing it is!

Square One

January 1, 2019 by Doug Rudnik Leave a Comment

It’s your new beginning, fresh start, clean slate, clear conscience, square one, jumping-off point, fork in the road, starting over, starting again, completing the circle, rounding the corner, over the hump, no holds barred, ground zero, benchmark, landmark, launch, spring-board, catalyst, incentive….

This is your day. This is your year. This is your victory. Go!
