Side Lights

July 11, 2019 by Doug Rudnik

Cheaha Creek, Alabama

This is Cheaha Creek, and this is certainly a waterfall, but it’s not Cheaha Falls – those are further upstream, and fabulous. It was this little fall that caught my attention. Like anyone else, I always love to see the big-named sites. Who wouldn’t want to see the spectacular waterfalls of Yosemite, Yellowstone, or Niagara? And I have! As a mindful person, however, I am often attracted to the side lights – the indirect, the less pronounced, the softer tone to speak to me individually. It’s there I find my own meanings and pleasures. To each one of us is given the task of finding their own spring in which to drink deep.

Do I want this?

October 13, 2018 by Doug Rudnik

“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”

No Words

Grandeur of Imagination

May 4, 2018 by Doug Rudnik

Yes, we are different, but that doesn’t mean that what separates us should be ridiculed; for what divides us can be what ultimately unites us if we put to task the grandeur of our imaginations!

Niagara Falls (Horseshoe Falls)

New York side

Located on the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, the combined falls form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in North America that has a vertical drop of more than 165 feet (50 m). During peak daytime tourist hours, more than six million cubic feet (168,000 m3) of water goes over the crest of the falls every minute. Horseshoe Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America, as measured by flow rate. Wiki
