I doubt if gorgeous creatures know how gorgeous they are. They are probably not like humans that seem to get their self-esteem through interacting with other humans. It’s enough for this hawk (Red-tailed, I believe) to simply live his life fulfilling it’s purpose. It should be enough for me as well in my appreciation of it, but I seem unable to resist my human nature in forcing my human judgments upon it that it is “gorgeous.” It never knew of my judgment, never cared. It just flew off and continued to live out it’s purpose unencumbered by my opinions. I find myself wanting to be more like the hawk.
