“When you know who you are; when your mission is clear and you burn with the inner fire of unbreakable will; no cold can touch your heart; no deluge can dampen your purpose. You know that you are alive.”
– Chief Seattle, Duwamish

Weld County, Colorado

More about Chief Seattle provided to me by my friend Dan Sanley:

The Hudson Bay Company traders gave him the nickname of Le Gros (The Big Guy). He was tall and broad but it was his voice that made him big. He was an orator and when he spoke his voice is said to have carried for ¾ of a mile. His speeches included expressions of love for the environment. It was difficult for Seattle to understand the white man’s attitude toward land, water, air, and animals. I can almost hear the chief pleading with us know across this beautiful landscape captured here by Doug.

Thank you, Dan!
